Our Process
The semi-precious gemstones we set in our designs are all produced with extreme attention to detail in terms of shape as well as polish. We have a wide variety of rough semi-precious gemstones which have been carefully curated over the decades to feature in our pieces. We strive to incorporate in-house cut gemstones in the majority of our work. Occasionally designs will call for a precious faceted stone, rosecut or extremely rare stone which must be sourced from other lapidaries. We have built many solid relationships with these suppliers to ensure that all gemstones are of excellent quality and 100% natural.
The benefit of being able to create cabochons in-house means we know for certain that the rough materials we are using are not treated in any way. We do not use any stone which has been dyed or reconstituted etc.
We are very particular when it comes to what rough gemstones we ultimately decide to use in our pieces . We look very carefully at each slab of stone we cut for interesting patterns, coloration and structural integrity before the preforming/shaping/polishing occurs.
Using only solid sterling/fine/argentium silver or solid 14/18/22k gold in our designs ensures a high quality, beautiful bespoke piece…every time. The precious metals we use to make our jewelry always start out as an ingot, sheet or wire that we have melted, filed, saw pierced or rolled into the desired thickness/sizes we require for each individual design. We use traditional silver/goldsmithing techniques to produce every piece of jewellery we offer.
Each week we are busy cutting sheet and wire, rolling metal, soldering, filing, polishing and setting stones…we love every minute of the creative process!
We love showing people our studio and how we create our jewelry. Please stop by and browse the rough gemstone displays, our jewellery pieces and view our working process in person. We are located in beautiful Lion’s Head, Ontario right on the Bruce Trail and waterfront.
We are open to the public Friday and Saturday from 12 noon-5pm from June-September.

Caring for your silver and gold.
High polish silver can be kept bright and lustrous by cleaning regularily with a polishing cloth. If your jewellery is kept in a clean, dry jewellery box it will reduce the accumulation of tarnish on your peice in between polishing.
Oxidized pieces are wonderful in the sense that you have already embraced the patina. Special storage is not required to keep tarnish at bay. Patina will rub off if you are not careful, it will slowly darken again as time goes by if this does happen.
Pieces that are partially/lightly oxidized can have any excess build-up of patina mitigated by using a silver polishing cloth to gently remove the oxidization that forms over time. We suggest to keep these pieces properly stored to keep the original finish intact.
Gemstone care
We recommend that you only use a clean polishing cloth or a soft toothbrush and mild organic dishsoap to clean your pieces if need be (if they are stored properly the cloth will suffice and be the most safe as we want to avoid any water getting trapped under clear gemstones). Most semi-precious gemstones do not tolerate any ultrasonic or steam cleaning. Please take off your jewellery before bathing, doing any housework/activities in which you could damage gemstones or mar precious metal, using chemicals etc. Some gemstones are sensitive to prolonged sun exposure and can lose the vibrancy of their color and fade. Storage in a dry, clean and dark jewellery box is a safe way to keep the color of your gemstones beautiful.
